A dramatic yet practical way to enjoy hammock rest and show off your landscaping. This is truly a work of art created by Robert Renders, a brilliant Belgian furniture designer, trained in Venice Italy, who now is working in Nicaragua creating his artistic wooden creations.
This carefully designed hammock support takes into consideration the structural needs of weight support, geometry, esthetics and the realities of modern shipping. For example, the geometry of the stand ensures a high end attachment (70") which, in turn, allows greater stability for what-ever hammock is supported. Even hammocks with stretcher bars at hammock ends such as the Nicamaka Playa shown have greater stability because the higher attach points allow for a safer draping angle.
The laminated support arcs have 10 layers of strong tropical hardwood members glued and pressed together to form a powerful arc - remindful of the keel of a Viking ship ready to plow the North Atlantic currents.
The finish is a strong furnitue oil (linseed) that allows the wood to breathe and age gracefully. Robert suggests that after the first assembly, the new owner apply another linseed or tung oil coat
